I Go Away for 10 Days…

I go away for 10 days and the whole U Street neighborhood changes…  Okay, minor changes, but notable:

  • The Maggie Moos on U Street (by the Ellington) is gone.  Some generic ice-cream shop in its place.
  • 1612 Cafe (in Results) is closed.  I realize it was perpetually empty, but still.  More gossip on the U Street Results building here.
  • Construction is moving along nicely on Birch & Barley (in the Dakota Cowgirl space at 14/P) and second floor structure of the soon to be 14th Street Bakery & Bar (next door to Marvin)  is up.
  • MidCity Caffe is open for business above Miss Pixies on 14th Street (at Corcoran).  Pics and review from 14&You here.

    One thing I like about Mid City is that they use Counter Culture Coffee beans. It’s the same provider that Peregrine uses and Murky used. Good stuff.

    Thanks for the updates! Especially interested in the update about the Results building, as it’s just around the corner from me. I have HATED 1612 Cafe, and its predecessors, so no loss there. Sucky service at any hour of the day.
